Explanation of Magic browser for Android permissions

We care about your privacy. When installing Magic browser, you will be asked to provide the app with certain permissions to access data on your Android device. The following describes the permissions Magic browser requests, what each permission allows the app to do, and why the app collects this data.

Read phone status and identity

This permission allows Magic browser to read your device’s International Mobile Station Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. Magic browser collects and anonymizes this device identifier for getting user’s Android device info to do simple statistics and collect error exception when user encountered force close (FC).

Access precise location (GPS and network-based)

This permission allows Magic browser to access your device’s location based on global-positioning satellites for sites like google maps, it is disabled by default in settings and displays a pop-up asking if a site may use your location when it is enabled.

Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

This permission allows Magic browser to access your local file storage on your device. Magic browser needs this permission to allow you to download files from web and manage them through the app’s interface.

Read the contents of your SD card

This permission allows Magic browser to read the contents of external storage on your device, including secure digital (SD) cards or hard drives connected to your Android device by Universal Serial Bus (USB). Magic browser needs this permission to allow you to open, download to and manage files found on external discs through the app.

Have full network access

This permission allows Magic browser to access network data through both Wi-Fi and mobile network connections (GPRS,3G or EDGE connections). Magic browser uses this permission to send and receive requests from Magic browser servers, which fetch and deliver web content to your device.

Prevent device from sleeping

This permission allows Magic browser to prevent your device’s processor from sleeping. Magic browser uses this permission to support user’s web browsing such as playing video on web.

Install shortcuts

This permission allows Magic browser to create shortcuts on your device’s home screen. When tapped, these shortcuts open selected pages using the Magic browser app.

View network connections

This permission allows Magic browser to determine whether your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile network connection. Magic browser uses this information when users are using the function of ‘show image via Wi-Fi’ to check user’s network connection and decide to show image or not.

View Wi-Fi connections

This permission allows Magic browser to view your Wi-Fi connections information to identify the user to better for more accurately statistics with the purpose of improving the software and associated services.

Use the camera

This permission allows Magic browser to to scan the two-dimensional code.
